Jason Berni

Coach Berni began his coaching career at San Jacinto High School in 2007 as a varsity assistant. That team won back-to-back CIF championships in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Coach Berni was an assistant coach at Heritage High School were he was in charge of the pitching staff and helped lead the team to the CIF playoffs in the school’s first varsity season. From 2012-2013, Coach Berni was the head coach at Perris High School where he doubled the size of the program over a two-year span.

As a player, Coach Berni graduated from Rancho Bernardo High School were he was the 1997 CIF player of the year under Coach Sam Blalock. That year, the Boston Red Sox selected him in the 35th round. He opted to forgo major league baseball to attend Long Beach State University on a baseball scholarship where he played for the legendary coach Dave Snow. At long Beach, he was apart of the 1998 NCAA Division I College World Series team that finished third in the country. Following his freshman season, Coach Berni received Baseball America 1st team Freshman All-American accolades. He went on to help the Dirtbags his remaining three seasons as a pitcher, first baseman, and outfielder.

 Coach Berni lives in Menifee with his wife Cassie, son Hudson (12), and two daughters, Emily (17) and Brooklyn (9).
