Mercedes O’Connor

Coach O'Connor is entering her 5th year coaching softball.
Coach O'Connor grew up in Huntington Beach, CA for most of her life. She played on many different travel ball teams such as original firecrackers, Irvine sting, the original Batbuster team, USA athletics, and Explosion. She went to Edison High school where her Senior class got all the way to the semi-finals of CIF in 2012, when that had not happened since the 1980's.
Coach O'Connor was recruited as a sophomore in high school by Utah State and BYU. But soon became a Division one softball player at Brigham Young University where she started as an outfielder for the two years there. In her red-shirt year she was named to the Honor roll for the Pacific Coast Conference. During the two years playing she was named the West Coast Conference player of the week and player of the week by College Sports Madness multiple times, All-WCC first and second team, and was named to the WCC College Sports Madness Preseason All Conference Second Team.
Coach O'Connor began coaching, in between colleges seasons, with Coach Gordon Eakin for the BYU athletic camps during the summer of 2014. She then continued to pursue coaching with lessons, coaching a Firecracker team, and coaching at Murrieta Valley High school.
