99 About Your A.D.

Michael Pfeiffer is entering his 25th year in education and 14th year at Paloma Valley High School.  He graduated from the University of LaVerne with his Bachelors Degree in History, and his Masters of Education.  Coach Pfeiffer has regularly coached camps at Duke University, Harvard, and Stanford University and works closely with collegiate academic coordinators to understand the NCAA requirements for student athletes.  This will be Coach Pfeiffer’s 6th year as Athletic Director.  He is the senior athletic director in the Perris Union High School District.

In 2014 Mr. Pfeiffer was named the Teacher of the Year for Paloma Valley High School, and was recognized as the Perris Union High School District Teacher of the Year as well.  For that achievement Mr. Pfeiffer was also recognized by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, California State Assembly, and California State Senate.  Mr. Pfeiffer helped lead the team of United States History teachers that guided Paloma Valley to post the highest U.S. History test scores in the Riverside County for consecutive years.

Coach Pfeiffer was recognized in 2016 as the Citrus Belt Area Rookie Athletic Director of the Year.  He has been a break out session speaker at the California State Athletic Directors Conference, and currently serves as the Secretary for the Sunbelt League and the newly formed Raincross Conference.  Coach Pfeiffer is also a member of the CIF Southern Section Officials Committee, the CBAADA Board, CBAADA Awards Committee, and CBAADA Sportsmanship Committee.

Coach Pfeiffer served for 13 years as Paloma Valley’s Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.  He is the winningest basketball coach in school history and is the only boys basketball coach to post winning seasons, and an overall winning record.  The 2008-2009 basketball season was the most successful in school history.  That team finished with a 21-7 overall record, advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 1A Elite 8, and posted a team GPA of 3.69.  The 2009-2010 team posted 18 wins and was the first team in school history to win the Riverside County Academic Athletic Championship for the highest team GPA in Riverside County.

During Coach Pfeiffer’s tenure as Athletic Director three more teams have won the Riverside County Academic Athletic Championship, and for the 2016-2017 school year every varsity team posted a team GPA of 3.0 or above.
